Welcome to the Center for a Postpartisan America (CPPA).  We are a non-profit political action institute with one essential goal –  to ensure that our future as a nation and people is not lost to the extremism and polarizing tactics of an elite few who, while comprising an infinitesimal portion of the population, nevertheless dominate and define the terms of our public debate.  We reject the oppositional posturing that has crippled our politics for too long.  So we’re taking action to make a better future.  Our focus is finding creative solutions to the big issues unique to the 21st century, without relying on asphyxiating partisan or ideological frameworks.  We are neither pragmatic nor idealistic, but a little of both.  We resist the tendency to dichotomize these concepts, and many others.

CPPA’s Three Action Areas are currently:

• Non-Partisan Open Primaries

• Universal Voter Registration

• Direct Action Democracy Reform
  

Because CPPA is based in California, we are currently focusing on these measures in California.  But similar initiatives are beginning to gather steam in other states and, in any event, should be pursued in other states, and at the federal level.
