Google Trends recently released the most searched-for terms in relation to Halloween. It seems that people get inspiration from pop culture when it comes to Halloween costumes.
SquidGame, which is a Netflix favorite, was the most searched for term in costumes. All of the characters wear basic uniforms that are basically jumpsuits.
Meanwhile, Britney Spears has been making headlines recently and has apparently inspired people to dress like her for Halloween. The top-searched terms included Venom from “Venom” and Carnage, both taken from the movie “Venom: Let There Be Carnage”.
Google Trends also shows that the “gorilla”, Halloween’s most popular costume, is second this year.
Amazon also keeps track of its top-selling costumes.
The majority of other top-selling pieces were generic costumes (witch helmets, cloaks and skeletons).
According to the website, Spider-Man is the top-selling kids’ costume this year. Popular masks are from the Squid Game film series and Purge.
The iconic mask Michael Myers, the movie villain in “Halloween,” is also very popular this year. This month, the slasher will be returning to theaters and streaming services.
While most of the other top sellers were actually fairly generic costume pieces (witch hats, cloaks, skeletons, etc), a costume of the main character from “The Mandalorian” also appeared on the list. Last but not least, inflatable dinosaur costumes remain popular. These are great for those who enjoy wearing large outfits all night.
